Training
I specialize in positive reinforcement training and pride myself in tailoring programs to meet the needs and goals of each client. Private training takes place in the convenience of your home, your neighborhood or a mutually agreeable public space as it pertains to our training.
Proof of up-to-date vaccinations for all pets must be provided, and all pets should be healthy and free from parasites, vomiting or diarrhea in order to attend class. Puppies must be up-to-date for their age and have had their first round of vaccinations at least ten days prior to attending a training session.
In-Person Training in Beaverton, Hillsboro, Aloha, Tigard, West Hills, Bethany, West Portland, Lake Oswego and surrounding areas. An additional fee will apply for locations exceeding twelve miles of travel. Online training Worldwide (English-speaking only)
Every training program begins with a thorough 90-minute consultation to discuss goals, areas of difficulty and customize a training plan specific to you and your dog. We'll talk through equipment, management strategies to put in place until training begins, and answer your questions.
Positive Manners Package
Consultation plus 5 Sessions $600
Have the happy, well-behaved dog you envision with this course, which focuses on promoting clear human-dog communication while teaching behaviors such as sit, down, come when called, settle on a mat, wait at the door, loose-leash walking, greeting visitors and much more. You’ll learn how to reinforce the behaviors you want and manage and replace behaviors you don’t, in order to have a well-behaved dog.
*This package is not appropriate for dogs who display over-reactive behavior, aggression or overly-fearful behaviors. Please refer to the Dogs with Difficulties training description.
Positive Puppy Package
Consultation plus 5 Sessions $600
Get your puppy off to the right start in life, before problems occur! Each session includes structured socialization and exposure exercises that will help “vaccinate” your puppy against developing fears and problems later in life. Lessons are designed to promote lifelong skills such as self-awareness, focus, calmness, resiliency and confidence, while teaching some beginning behaviors such as come when called, go in crate, settle on a mat or bed and cooperative care for handling. Common issues such as mouthing and nipping, jumping and housetraining are addressed, and packages may include two outings to socialize in public places.
*This package is appropriate for puppies 6 months and younger at the start of the program.
Out and About
Consultation plus 3 Sessions $400
Are you ready to head outdoors and visit public places, knowing that you will have a calm, well-trained dog? This training package focuses on different types of leash-walking, settling quietly in outdoor cafes, greeting people appropriately and building skills in distracting environments for dogs who have some basic training in place, but need help being able to take it outside of the home environment.
*This package is not appropriate for dogs who display over-reactive behavior, aggression or overly-fearful behaviors. Please refer to the Dogs with Difficulties training description.
Dogs with Difficulties
Consultation Plus 4 Sessions $550
Does your dog display difficulties regulating behavior and emotions? Does your dog bark, lunge, guard items, cower, hide, or get overly-excited?
I will customize a program to help your dog relax, learn how to handle emotions differently and train alternative, safer and more socially acceptable behaviors.
